Traditional farmers hand-plant, stake, and pick the vine-ripened tomatoes daily while in season. These tomatoes are very delicate and can only be handled in small quantities. They are not mechanically picked like most other tomatoes and are harvested in limited quantities for the discerning consumer and chef. Genuine San Marzano tomatoes are required by law to contain the "D.O.P." seal (Denomination of Protected Origin). This insures that these tomatoes are from the Sarnese-Nocerino area and are grown from original San Marzano seeds.
